Stories and patakíes
The incredulous king
In Ara keke there was a king named lorila, he believed in his own way and thought that being king he did not need anything.
One day one of his chiefs named balogun whom he had as a faithful friend was plotting a change of power against him.
But one of his best-known helpers called his attention and told him if you do not believe me let's go where your wise man is.
This wise man turned out to be Obatala, the king replied: you are crazy, how is it possible that I with my rank am going to go to the house of a beggar.
Look, get out of my presence.
But when the king went to bed, he fell asleep and dreamed that they wanted to throne him.
When he got up thinking that no loyal friend would betray another, he decided to go to the house of a wise man.
This man, examining him and having this sign appear to him, advised him that he had to give food to the river and then head rogation, give rooster to Elegba and Oggun because in less than 5 days they could dethrone him; that he lived with his own enemies and did not know it.
When he returned to his palace he told his helper what happened and in turn refused to do anything for fear that someone from the town would see him, instead he sent the helper with the food lacking the fish.
The helper arrived at the wise man's house, and he told him that it could not be.
The helper, fearing to return with everything, begged the wise man, he went and told him, let's go but the ceremony will be received by you and not the king, the wise man did his ceremony and said: deliver the food to Oshun yourself, it was presented to him on his head but the fishes that were hungry saw a shadow when he threw the food into the water.
A fish jumped to grab something to eat before the others and it fell into his hands, the wise man told him, do not let it go, it serves to do head rogation for you, the wise man finished doing the rogation, the helper returns to the palace and before arriving he feels the revolt.
It was that balogun attacked the king, who had to leave the palace heading to the wise man's house.
"You see," he told him, "it is too late, you lost your crown through stubbornness, Elegba, Shango and Oshun have taken care of the matter." In the palace, since balogun knew nothing about administration, he saw the helper of the once-king and as the latter had not fled, he named him king of the palace and he accepted.
The abuse of Oggun arere with women
At one time Oggun arere abused the women who entered his territory (nibe), and in a violent and irascible way he possessed them and later mistreated them and afterwards threw them out of his domains under terrible punishments, and a maiden called Yemaya sara magua, incited by the narratives that ran about Oggun arere, once went into the forest with the deliberate intention that the man would bring her to the state of woman.
Yemaya suffers the same fate as the other women, her desires overcome pain and she calls for Oggun with more pleasure.
Oggun arere disregards her and, hitting her again, throws her out of the forest.
The girl, full of anguish, runs to her sister Oshun's house and asks her for advice because she had fallen for the brutal Oggun arere, and Oshun, commiserating with her sister's pain, tells her: wait here at your house tonight for Oggun arere, and she took a plate of oñi and tied 5 handkerchiefs around her waist and began the journey to the forest; as soon as she arrived she encountered the brave man, Oggun arere tries to take her in his arms, but Oshun, dodging his body, slips through the man's rough hands and, taking off her 5 handkerchiefs, begins to dance while spilling the oñi over her shining body, quickly advances toward Oggun arere, who fails again and again when trying to hold her in his arms and spills the honey over her naked body, and the man, already under the spell of the dancer, follows her decisively to the edge of the forest, and there Oshun lies down and later couples with the brutal Oggun arere and makes in doko and Oshun replies, let's go to my house and there we will be more comfortable.
Oggun arere agrees and Oshun takes him into Yemaya's house; as the night was dark, she puts him into Yemaya's bed and lies down there too, and later slips away and leaves them alone.
Oggun arere, without suspecting the change, finds the road open to enjoy the supposed Oshun, but at dawn he discovers the fraud and ferociously hits Yemaya and abruptly leaves the house, and as he steps out he meets Obatala and tries to unleash his rage on her.
Obatala runs and throws herself into the river, there shivering from the cold and after struggling with the current she comes out trembling in search of her blanket to cover herself and warm up, and then went to elegua's house so that he, together with the women, could drive Oggun out of the forest.
