The Egun told the truth
In the land of otolopo, obara ni guani lived; he had great luck at work and when he looked at anything, everything turned out well for him, but he had a brother, obara nikone, who did him a lot of harm by telling people that nothing he did turned out well.
Nevertheless, obara ni guani always helped his brother obara nikeñe, who lived in the land of kabeyekun where Eshu also lived, always watching the bad actions he committed, and that is why he kept him in a bad situation.
Obara ni guani got up early every day and sang to Elegba and to Obatala, who blessed him because of that.
Obara nikeñe went every day to visit his brother obara ni guani, and when he left, obara ni guani gave Oba eni to Shango, cleaned himself and threw it away.
One day, while obara nikeñe was at his brother’s house, the king of that land arrived; his son was gravely ill, and obara ni guani prescribed Ebbo, but his brother obara nikeñe, without his brother hearing him, told the king that if he did that Ebbo his son was going to die, and right after that he invited him to go by his house to do another Ebbo with cujes, etc.
The king of otolopo believed what obara nikeñe had said and went to his house with all the things for the Ebbo, and he did it for his son; nevertheless, the next day after the Ebbo had been done, the king’s son died.
In those lands they had the custom of burying the dead in the square, and the king, the day after the burial, went to obara nikeñe’s house and asked him why his son had died if they had assured him otherwise.
Obara nikeñe replied that this happened because his brother obara ni guani had cursed him.
Elegba, who was listening, took three cujes that remained from the Ebbo and took them to obara ni guani’s house and asked him why he had cursed the king’s son.
Obara ni guani denied having done such a thing, and told him to gather the people of the town in the square because he was going to question the king’s son so that he would tell the truth.
The king of otolopo gathered everyone in the square, including obara nikeñe, who had been taken there by Eshu.
Then, in the presence of everyone, obara ni guani called the eggun of the boy, who spoke and said, otolopo, you are the only one responsible for my death for having listened to obara nikeñe, because the one you should have listened to was obara guani.
