Stories and patakíes
The calming of Shango
In this path in the land of osushe lived Oshun, who was madly in love with olufina akakomasia, who was a man known for his womanizing and divining, but even more famous for the lack of constancy he had in his relationships with obini.
Oshun wanted to tie up olufina so that he would be her husband, she had tried in many ways to keep him by her side, but he always went off toward the lands of other obinis, mounted on his spirited white horse which was known by the name of shebe shintilu.
Then she went to the house of the famous diviner of that town who was elegua who, when he consulted her, saw this sign and told her that there was only a person in that land who was capable of achieving the tranquility and serenity of Shango, who was known as the unruly horseman.
She made the Ebbo that was indicated to her and then went to the house of olo Ozain who together with elegua prepared for her the secret of the land of eyioko obara, which would make it possible to achieve the tranquility of Shango.
Already with those things prepared in her hands, she waited for the moment of olufina's arrival in her land; he came riding galloping on his horse and was singing: “kaowo kaowo moforibale kenñ alado titi la eyo akualado Oshun, titi la eyo”.
Oshun then invited him to get down and before ofikale with him, she offered him in the cup of abaña that Ozain and elegua had prepared for him, opolopo Oti ogu and while he drank, Oshun sang.
When Shango drank that mixture he felt strongly intoxicated and with an inner peace that made him feel good in that land and after he ofikale with Oshun, he calmed down and stayed definitively in that land.
Elegua's trap
Elegba wanted to enslave the horse, but since he was small he could not because the horse was big and strong, then he went to the house of Shango and this sign came out for him and told him: “you want to get something that you will not be able to obtain by force, to achieve it it must be with skill and intelligence”.
Elegba made Ebbo with
Awado, rope, etc.
Shango told him to spread a little awado where he used to stop to watch the horses.
When elegua arrived under the tree where he used to stop to watch the horses, he spread a little corn and sat down under it.
One of the horses on his route arrived at the tree and asked elegua for corn, and he gave him a little in exchange for letting him mount on his back; the horse agreed, and a little while later the horse asked him for another little bit of corn, and elegua said: “I’ll give it to you in exchange for letting yourself be tied with this rope around your mouth so that when I mount you I can guide you along the road”.
The horse agreed and thus was subdued by elegua.
