Stories and patakíes

Thanks to osun, war was avoided

There was a town where smuggling, theft and crime existed, since the governor was very old for those functions and his assistants, who were Oggun and Elegba, were involved but nothing could be proven against them.

The king of that town was Obatala, who, tired of so much corruption, decided to hand over the reins to the man who was capable of moralizing those people.

At that time, there arrived in that town a man unknown to everyone, who did not speak to anyone and behaved properly.

After learning what was going on there, he presented himself to Obatala and said: let me take charge of the government of this land and give me an Eyele fun fun, Ori and honey to fix this situation for you.

That unknown man was osun.

Obatala gave him everything he asked for, so that he would resolve that situation, and because he had the intuition that that man was honest.

When osun left Obatala's house he went to the forest, where he went deep inside looking for a good trunk of moruro wood, large and resistant.

There he saw Eshu and gave him the Akuko he was carrying and asked him to help him discover who the leaders of all that disorder were.

Eshu committed to helping him.

Osun cut the moruro wood, washed it with omi Olofin, gave it the Eyele and then gave it Ori, Efun and returned home.

At nightfall osun left his house with the moruro trunk on his shoulder and walked toward where Eshu was guiding him, and when he arrived where there was a good group of men, he saw Oggun among them.

Osun was about to address the group, but was stopped by Eshu, who said: wait a little.

Soon after, Elegba arrived and joined the group; as Elegba and Oggun were the ones who led Obatala's army, osun understood that they were betraying him and that thus Obatala could never capture any criminal, for the majority of the smuggling was of weapons, that is, bows, arrows and spears, so that at the proper moment they could wage war against Obatala.

At a signal from Eshu, osun pounced on the group, beginning to deal blows with the moruro trunks, and those men, taken by surprise, fled, believing that behind the one who was hitting with the sticks there were more men, and Oggun, Elegba and Oshosi, who was also there, were left alone, and, seeing themselves exposed by osun, they begged him not to denounce them before Obatala.

Osun said to them: all right, but you have to end the smuggling, the robberies and the murders.

They agreed and, by order of osun, they took those weapons to Obatala.

From that moment on, Elegba, Oggun and Oshosi made a pact with osun and the town began to prosper, and Obatala thanked osun, and when he was about to offer him a share in the responsibility of government, osun disappeared.

In thanks and honor to osun, Obatala ordered his people that every year they had to worship and offer to the moruro tree so as to remember the memory of that unknown and selfless man who resolved the situation of his town.

Obatala hung arrows, bows and spears in that tree to remember that thanks to osun there was no war in his town.

Where Olofin took the boys

Here was where Olofin took the boys to heaven because here people treated them very badly, and he closed the tap of agudo (water) so that humanity would not have water to drink and put Eshu in charge of watching it.
