Terms of Use
These Terms govern the use of the Signos del Caracol app (hereinafter, “the app”). By downloading it, registering or using it, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
0. Who we are
Signos del Caracol is a digital service owned by IREOMA, tax ID (CIF) B22854913, with registered address, for notification purposes, at Calle Téllez 22, 4A, 28007 Madrid. You can contact us at hola@signoscaracol.com.
1. Purpose
The app is a cultural and religious reference and study work on the diloggún —the oracle of the caracol of the Regla de Osha (Lucumí santería)— and its signs: texts, patakíes, prayers, sayings, analyses, advice and interpretation tools. It also includes cultural and study material on the Regla de Palo Monte (Regla Conga). Osha and Palo are distinct religious traditions and are presented as such in the app.
2. Use license
The user is granted a personal, limited, revocable and non-transferable license to use the app and its content for personal and non-commercial purposes. No property right over the content is transferred.
3. Nature of the content (important notice)
The content is intended for cultural, educational and study purposes. It does not replace consultation with an oriaté or an olorisha (santero) or any traditional ceremony, and does not constitute medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. For any health, legal or financial problem, go to a qualified professional. The decisions you make based on the content are your exclusive responsibility.
Documentary and ancestral nature. The texts of the app —including works, ebó, ceremonies, rites and any reference to offerings or sacrifices— are ethnographic documentation and cultural heritage of Afro-Cuban religious traditions transmitted orally for centuries. They are compiled and presented for exclusively documentary, cultural and study purposes, in order to preserve and understand that knowledge.
The author and the app do not incite, promote, encourage or instruct the practical performance of any rite, offering or sacrifice, nor do they provide operational instructions for carrying them out. The app describes and documents a tradition; it is not an execution manual. In particular, the Akín assistant does not indicate or explain how to carry out animal sacrifices.
Any ritual practice is the exclusive and personal responsibility of whoever decides to carry it out, corresponds solely to a duly initiated priest and must be performed in person —an oriaté or olorisha in the case of Osha, or a tata or yaya nganga in the case of Palo— and is subject to the legislation in force in each country, including animal protection and welfare regulations. The user undertakes not to carry out any practice that infringes the applicable law.
4. User account
If you create an account, you are responsible for the accuracy of your data and for keeping your credentials confidential. The account is personal and non-transferable; shared use may lead to its suspension.
5. Acceptable use
The user undertakes not to:
- copy, reproduce, redistribute or publish the content, except where permitted;
- use the app for unlawful purposes or to harm third parties;
- attempt to access unauthorized systems, data or functions;
- carry out reverse engineering or automated data extraction.
6. Akín assistant (artificial intelligence)
The app includes Akín, an assistant based on artificial intelligence that helps understand Osha and Palo. Its answers may contain errors or inaccuracies and are for guidance and study purposes: they are not a ritual determination or a personal record, and they do not replace a priest. You should not make important decisions based solely on what it answers. The text of your questions is processed as explained in the Privacy Policy.
7. Intellectual property
All content is protected. See the document “Content Protection and Intellectual Property”, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
8. Subscriptions
Some features and content require a paid subscription. The conditions of purchase, renewal, cancellation and refund are set out in the document “Subscriptions and Refunds Policy”.
If you subscribe directly on our website (signoscaracol.com) you can pay in two ways: by card (Stripe/Link), in which case the sale and the charge are carried out through Stripe/Link as the seller (Merchant of Record); or with PayPal, in which case the seller is IREOMA, CIF B22854913, Calle Téllez 22, 4A, 28007 Madrid (trade name: CUBAYORUBA), and PayPal acts only as the payment method. In both cases, see the Subscriptions and Refunds Policy.
9. Availability and changes
The app is offered “as is” and may be updated, modified or discontinued. We strive for its proper functioning, but we do not guarantee that it is free of errors or available without interruptions.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the owner will not be liable for indirect damages or damages arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the app or its content.
11. Suspension
We may suspend or cancel access in the event of breach of these Terms, especially of the intellectual property and account use rules.
12. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, the parties submit to the courts and tribunals that correspond under the applicable consumer regulations.
13. Contact
For any questions about these Terms, you can write through the contact channels indicated on the app’s store listing.
