Stories and patakíes
The lagging congos
The congos were very behind and went to consult, and they were told to cut down all the trees except the strawberry tree.
So they did, and when they finished they piled them up and let Orunmila know.
He asked for a gourd with which he made sara eko, adding Ashé to it.
He turned it over on the wood and covered it with the gourd.
After a short time a new generation of that plant arrived, and with it prosperity.
Erdibre. Baba's cook
Erdibre was a man of great mentality and was Obatala's cook; he always finished his chores very early and would retire to have fun because he was very fond of dancing, music, and women.
For all this, the others in the house were envious of him and said that he did not work and that he was very lazy.
To the extent that they managed to convince baba, and he threw him out of the house.
Erdibre began to suffer hardships, getting to the point of not having anything to eat until he came to orumila's feet and he told him: people are envious of you and have worked against you through the air to harm you.
You never carry the baskets to go to the market and for that reason they have convinced baba that you are very proud and lazy.
You have to make Ebbo with: a basket and a broken jaba.
After the Ebbo you always have to carry the jaba everywhere.
Erdibre managed to get the jaba from Obatala's house and made the Ebbo.
And he started to walk around with it.
He went to the market with it and, because he did not have to do the need, it forced him to sell herbs.
Even though he had been baba's cook.
Obatala went out into the street and everywhere he went he met erdibre.
And he was surprised that both in the market, in the street, on walks, and wherever erdibre went, he always had the jaba in his hand.
Which convinced him that erdibre was neither lazy nor proud.
Then Obatala put up an advertisement saying that he was looking for a man without saying for what.
And as they arrived, he turned them away because they were not cooks; erdibre saw the advertisement and necessity forced him to present himself before baba to ask for the job, telling him that he needed to work and would occupy himself in everything he was ordered to do.
Then Obatala became convinced of the lie they had told him, and in this way he discovered erdibre's enemies.
And he made him head of the house.
After erdibre made Ebbo with the jaba and always went around with it everywhere.
The next day after having accepted baba's job, another job was offered to him where they needed the man with the briefcase and he would put it off until the next day, and so he always had work.
