Stories and patakíes

The two twin brothers

In the city of Efun alaye there was a king named Oba araisha and when this man's wife gave birth they were twins, but the palace subjects gave death to one and buried him in the forest.

Being Oba araisha an adolescent, he became sick and his mother took him to have divination performed, where he was told that he had to take care of someone who had died and had not been given funeral rites, but as he knew nothing of what had happened, when he arrived home he asked his mother, who told him everything she knew.

Oba araisha went to the forest and sacrificed for his twin osiadie meyi where he was buried, and after doing this he began to prosper.

After some time passed he wanted a woman for a wife, but one obini after another whom he fell in love with rejected him, and so he went to have divination performed and was told that he had to do Ebbo for his twin brother.

So he did it and then he had a wife and children.

Shortly after, the people of Efun alaye were trying to choose a new Oba and although he shared the title he was not the favorite; he again went to have divination performed and it came out that he had to do Ebbo for his twin brother and so he was crowned Oba, where shortly after he fell in love with a very beautiful woman who in turn loved him, and he began to neglect the spirit of his twin brother.

But it happened that the beautiful woman became pregnant and everything was joy at the proximity of the future offspring, but one day the woman awoke bleeding as she had lost the child and she began to scream, going mad.

Then Oba araisha ordered that the ground be dug up and that the tree from which his wife had eaten food be torn out, and when they began to dig they breached the city walls and continued digging until they reached the forest where his twin brother had been buried, where the Oba ordered that they should keep digging until the forest was done away with and even beyond.

When the forest was no longer thick, all the wild animals fled from it.

Where before the sun did not shine, now it shone at all hours; where water had never fallen, now it rained incessantly.

Then Oba araisha became sick and when he saw himself sick he took some plants and fish; a young girl whose breasts had not yet developed and a young boy whose testicles had not yet developed, and he sacrificed them to his twin brother, but his twin brother no longer wanted any other sacrifice than his other twin brother and so Oba araisha was taken away.
